By accessing or using the Atticus AI platform ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Starboard Labs LLC ("Company," "we," "us," or "our").

2. Service Description

Atticus is an AI-powered legal platform with three core features:

• Legal AI Assistant: Real-time legal research with citations, case law analysis, and natural language Q&A
• AI Editor: AI-powered document drafting and editing for legal documents
• Secure Document Storage: Encrypted storage where the AI can reference your uploaded documents

The Service is available 24/7 to users in the United States. All data is stored in US-based AWS data centers.

3. Eligibility

• You must be 18 years or older to use the Service
• Atticus is designed for legal professionals (attorneys, paralegals, legal assistants) but is available to anyone
• You must provide accurate account information
• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account

4. Acceptable Use

4.1 Permitted Uses

• Professional legal research and analysis
• Document drafting and review
• Case preparation and strategy development
• Educational and training purposes

4.2 Prohibited Uses

• Using the Service for illegal activities
• Attempting to circumvent security measures
• Sharing account credentials with others
• Uploading malicious code or harmful content
• Using the Service to harass or harm others
• Violating applicable laws or professional standards

5. Important Disclaimers

AI Limitations

• AI systems may generate incorrect or incomplete information
• All AI outputs should be independently verified
• The causes of AI errors cannot always be traced or explained
• Legal professionals should review all AI-generated content before use

6. Pricing and Payment

• Price: $75 per month
• Billing: Monthly, automatically renewing
• Payment: Processed through Stripe (major credit/debit cards accepted)
• Cancellation: Cancel anytime — no penalties or fees
• Refunds: Prorated refunds available at Company discretion
• Failed Payments: Service may be suspended for failed payment processing

7. Data Ownership and Privacy

7.1 Your Data

• You retain full ownership of all documents you upload
• You own AI-generated analysis and research results
• Your data is never used to train or improve AI models
• Your data is completely isolated from other users

7.2 Security and Compliance

• HIPAA-compliant infrastructure with AWS Business Associate Agreement
• Encryption at rest (AES-256) and in transit (TLS 1.3)
• We cannot access your documents — only you can

8. Service Availability

• Uptime: 99.9% target through AWS infrastructure
• Maintenance: Scheduled maintenance with advance notice when possible

9. Intellectual Property

• Starboard Labs LLC owns all rights to the Atticus platform
• You receive a limited license to use the Service during your subscription
• You retain all rights to your uploaded documents and content
• We claim no ownership interest in your content

10. Limitation of Liability

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND.

• We disclaim all warranties, express or implied
• We do not guarantee accuracy of AI outputs
• We are not liable for decisions made based on AI-generated content
• Users assume responsibility for professional judgment and verification

Our liability for any claims is limited to the amount you paid in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for consequential, indirect, or punitive damages.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify Starboard Labs LLC from claims arising from:

• Misuse of the Service or violation of these Terms
• Violation of applicable laws or professional standards
• Infringement of third-party rights through your content
• Professional malpractice or negligence

12. Termination

• You may cancel your subscription at any time
• We may suspend or terminate accounts for Terms violations
• Upon termination, access ceases immediately
• Data is handled per our retention policy (see Privacy Policy)

13. Dispute Resolution

• Governing Law: Florida state law
• Jurisdiction: State or federal courts in Florida
• Informal Resolution: Parties agree to attempt good faith resolution before formal proceedings

14. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms to reflect service changes or legal requirements. We will notify users of material changes via email. Continued use after updates constitutes acceptance. You may terminate if you disagree with changes.

15. General Provisions

• Entire Agreement: These Terms and our Privacy Policy constitute the complete agreement
• Severability: If any provision is unenforceable, the rest remain in effect
• Assignment: You may not assign these Terms without our consent
• Waiver: Failure to enforce any provision does not waive future enforcement
